CCS: Error while installing Vayu simulator on CCSv5.1

Hi,

I am trying to install the Vayu simulator in CCS version 5.1 as I understand that the simulators aren't officially supported on the later versions.

My aim is to simulate EVEs on my PC.

I am using Ubuntu 16.04 and installing the simulator from http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_ccstudio/CCSv5.1/Updates/simulation/vayu_ss_sim_csp/p2linux

as advised in the EVE getting started guide.

However, after installing the simulator when the CCS software restarts it tries to actually install the simulator and throws an error like this one:

Hi Bhargav,

When you installed simulator did you chose only TI VAYU CCS simulator option or you also checked REQUIRED CCS update Installation Tool option?

Hi Anshu,

While installing the simulator both the "TI VAYU CCS simulator" and the "REQUIRED CCS update Installation Tool" were checked. At this time there were no errors.
But after the installation CCS prompted me to restart and I selected Yes. Upon restarting, it went for the actual installation and I got the error as in the picture in my original post.

Can you try with just "TI VAYU CCS simulator" option.

I tried with only the Simulator option checked and got the exact same error.

I think it could be because you have first tried CCS update which would have downloaded the installer and would be trying to install those updates when you restart CCS. Can you try to do this on a fresh CCS installation? I have tried these steps in my setup and it worked.

Hi Anshu,

As per your suggestion I re-installed CCSv5.1 and then tried to install only Vayu simuator and not the update installation tool.

But it won't let me install. Here's the error details:

Cannot complete the install because of a conflicting dependency.
Software being installed: TI VAYU CCS Simulator 0.6.2.0 (com.ti.vayu_ccs.simulator.linux.feature.group 0.6.2.0)

Only difference I see in your setup vs my setup is CCS version. I tried it on CCSv5.5. Do you have CCSv5.5 with you?

I get the same error with CCSv5.5 installed from the above link.

I deselected the update installation tool this time as well.

sorry for the delayed response. I asked around the about the issue but couldn't fins someone from automotive team who can reproduce it or has seen something similar. I will move your post to CCS forum - hopefully someone there can help.

Could you check if you have the file /home/bhargav/ti/ccsv5/eclipse/downloads/ti_simpack_vayu_ccs_0.6.2.0_setup.bin?

HI,

I too face the same issue. VAYU simulator folder is not created after the installation and update being performed. Its an unsolved issue after many trials to fix it on our own.

I think you already have similar question in other thread https://e2e.ti.com/support/arm/automotive_processors/f/1021/p/660631/2433307#2433307 . As per the conversation which I had with valeo chennai team during my visit it was confirmed that they were able to use vayu simulator.
