CCS: Unable to select Segger J-Link emulator from the connection options

I have followed the instructions listed here: https://www.segger.com/products/debug-probes/j-link/technology/ides/ti-code-composer/

I am using CCS version 7.4.0.00015 so it should support j-link out of the box after selecting it at install. Going to installation details, I can see the segger files were included in the install so I am not sure what is preventing me from making the selection in the connection drop down menu.

Hi John,
Are you referring to the connection field in the project properties or in the ccxml file? If it is the former, what device did you create a project for?

I appears that the J-Link driver does not support CC32xx. I'm not sure if that is by design, or if it is a bug. I will need to follow up with SEGGER.

This is an outstanding issue on Segger's software that was reported late last year. I will follow up with them to see what are their plans to implement this.

Well I was able to use jlink with IAR on the cc3200.. And selecting cc3200 as the device in ccs still will not bring up jlink emulator as a connection option. So this seems like a code composer issue to me.

yes, the issue is with the SEGGER software package for CCS. It is still missing the configuration for CC32xx support. We are working with SEGGER to resolve this. Sorry for the pains.

Hi,

Segger recently released a new version (6.30.6.0) that allows connecting to a CC3220SF device using CCS. Simply go to menu Help --> Check for Updates and you should see this version there.

After updating, I still can't connect.

I receive a popup dialog box:

Error connecting to the target:
runJLinkCommand: ERROR : Failed to set device.

The cable is connected to JTAG IN.

What is the SOP setting supposed to be? Does it make a difference? Any other jumpers require consideration?

There is the thread Problems connecting to CC3220SF via J-Link on the Segger forum with the same error reported. Does the suggested work-around using SWD help?

I am getting help directly from SEGGER. I received additional instruction last week but haven't had the chance to try it. There is definitely complexity around getting it hooked up, and it looks like a CCS concern, but I don't know for sure yet.
