CCS4 License Server Problem

Hi!

I have a problem with installing the license server. When I want to start, I always get the following error:

The license manager cannot find the tidspssw file. When you start the license manager do you have the file tidspssw in the same directory as lmgrd? Also, does the tidspssw have the correct permissions to execute (usually when the file is downloaded it has no execute permissions)? At last, make sure the Ubuntu 7 has all the LSB packages installed: lsb-core and lsb-base (check step 2 of the command line config in the page below) - this was required to run it in Ubuntu 10, therefore it may be the case for version 7.

Please refer to the page below for details on how to setup the license server in Unix systems.

    Best regards,

  • Hi!

    Thx for your replay!!

I've tried every point of your replay. It should work, but it doesn't :-/ Can it be, that the tidspssw file is for a wrong or too new linux distribution?  I've downloaded the one for linux.

    Regards,

I searched around on the internet for the error message and could reproduce an identical error by "breaking" the VENDOR line of the license file and pointing it to an invalid location. If you follow the instructions at the license server page, you should leave this line as VENDOR tidspssw.

With these settings you must leave the daemon tidspssw file in the same directory as lmgrd. If you have other requirements on how to place these files you will have to refer to the License Administration Guide.

Apart from this, I just noticed you are using version 9.50 of the license manager:

The TI daemon was created with version 11.4 of the FlexLM software, therefore its functionality with this earlier version can lead to impredictable results.

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi!

Thanks for all your replies. Now the license server with the vendor deamon is running. The problem was, that the updadte of ubuntu 7.10 was not working right. The repository was not found. I have to change my source.list and update my system. After that I was able to run the 32bit tidspssw file on my 64bit machine. This means, that the problem was, that my 64bit system was not able to run the 32bit file.

    Thanks for the help!!!

  • Egarter,

Thanks for reporting this. Which packages you had to download to make it work?

When I was testing the procedure listed in the License server Administration page, one of the distros I tested was Ubuntu 10.4 LTS (32 and 64 bits) and I had to download the lsb-core an lsb-base packages to make it work properly.

  • Hi!

I have only to update my system and install ia32-libs.

I have a further question. How it is possible to use a second license server with my license file. We want to change the server in near future, but up to the time the new server don't work the old server should work. Currently I have installed everthing I need and when I start up the license server I get the following error for tidspssw that I have an invalid license key (inconsistent authentication code). In my license file I changed the name and the MAC-Adress to the date of my new license server.

    Can someone help me!

    Regards,

    Dominik

  • Dominik,

In your case I would probably use the license servers in a triad (redundant) configuration to avoid downtime (and fail-over protection). Chapter 14 of Flexera's License Server Administration Guide and the post below show additional details.
