CCS: Missing C6000 toolchain

Hello,

When I installed CCS v7.4.0 I've selected in Product Families the toolchains for "MSP430 Ultra-low Power MCU" and "C6000 Power Optimized CPU", when I try to create a new project for MSP430 I can see "TI v16.9.6.LTS" in Compiler Version however for TMS320C6748 the Compiler Version is an empty list. Which toolchain do I need to select to be able to build for this processor?

I've attached the ccs7_install.zip logs.

Hello!

Mine experience is mainly with C66 of C6000 family and what I know is that 7.4 comes with v.8 of C6000 compiler. If you want 7.4 - have to install it manually (help/install new software).

Hi Jan, I would like any C6000 compiler to be installed (preferably latest) for a new project, at the moment there isn't any available for this architecture although it was selected on installation screen.

David, version 8 of C6000 compiler should work with C674x according to what I see in files. I really could not guess, why you don't see it proposed for your device.
However, there is some gap between v.7 and v.8 compilers which I believe you wish to see and decide for yourself.

Hi rrlagic, it appears no compiler was installed for C6000, just need one to start a new project. I've reinstalled CCSv7, selected same toolchains but still it's not installed. Also, in the installation path C:\ti\ccs740\ccsv7\tools\compiler I can see only folders for dmed, msp430-gcc-6.4.0.32_win32 and ti-cgt-msp430_16.9.6.LTS, no folder for C6000. The ccs7_install.zip logs attached were already from the second installation.

Hi,

Unfortunately you hit a "catch 22" scenario; when selected alone, the C674x family of devices (the C6000 Power Optimized devices) does not trigger the install of a toolchain, given the more recent releases of CCS do not ship with it.

To install one, you can either use rrlagic's method or use the CCS App Center (menu View → CCS app Center). Once there, click on the "See More" button and you will find the C6000 Compiler (v7) icon
