CCS/CCSTUDIO: Unable to use spaces in path names

Hi,

I am trying to use CCStudio 7.3 where all the source files are in a OneDrive directory. The purpose is to keep a second backup in the cloud in addition to GitHub.

The problem is that OneDrive always sets up the working directory as "OneDrive - Company Name" and that is causing CCS to choke

(e.g. /Applications/TI/xdctools_3_50_03_33_core/packages/xdc/bld/xdc_rules.mak:156: *** The macro XDCPATH must not contain any spaces in pathnames. Stop.)

Is there any way around this?

Hello!
Perhaps you could word around this limitation by setting symlink to your actual location, e.g. having c:\OneDrive - Company Name, link it to c:\project an work with latter one.
Making symlinks (proper windows name is "directory junction") could me messy in commend line, but hope some tools exist for that. I am using Far Manager (Norton Commander like blue panels), which has a function to create those symlinks, but there might be more of them.

Thanks, rrlagic - let me try that approach. I am on OS X so setting up symbolic links is easy...

I tried your suggestion but it does not work - the build scripts (or the OS, not sure which one) expands the symlink to its full path thereby re-introducing the spaces.... :-(

Sorry to hear that.

Before suggesting the recipe I've tried that on Windows machine and that seemed to work at least with space containing project folder. We gained knowledge that does not help on Unix like OS.

Are you confirming that there is nothing that con be done about this? Is it because you are using GNU make under the covers?

If so, then yes, close the ticket

I asked around and you might try getting the 8.3 name. You can see it with via dir /x. For example

If this does not work, I think you have to remove the white space.

Hi Todd,

Sadly, that won't work since the spaces are inserted by a third-party vendor (Microsoft) and I can't change what they are doing.

So, let's close this issue.
