CCS/CCSTUDIO: Toolchain install on build server without Graphics

Hi,

I want to set up a build server (GNU/GCC-ARM/X86, TI-C6600 incl. XDC/SYSBIOS) without graphics support (just terminal access). Is there a way to install the mentioned Texas toolchains and required libraries without using a GUI?

Tim,

Although I haven't done myself, I have seen other developers create build servers accessible via telnet/ssh with no graphics display available. All the the tools you mentioned are command-line in nature, therefore I don't see an issue in running them.

The TI compilers, SYSBIOS and even CCS (edit. text mode install is not supported by CCS) can be installed from a text terminal by issuing the installer followed by the option --mode text. XDC is simply a .zip file.

The TI Compilers can be downloaded from processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Compiler_Releases
SYSBIOS can be downloaded from: software-dl.ti.com/.../index.html
XDC can be downloaded from: software-dl.ti.com/.../index.html

Are you intending to use additional SDKs as well? If so, I would check if their installers also have the option above enabled.

If you don't know, CCS has an interface that operates entirely from the command line:
For project management, check: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Create
For debugging, check: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Create

Thanks a lot,

I was aware of the toolchains cli, but I wasn't sure about installing it without X-Server/Wayland.
While thinking about it: is it possible to use the install/update mechanisms coming with ccs/eclipse without GUI?

Tim,

That is a big maybe. I could not find anything on Eclipse's project page that suggests this is possible (the command line interface is entirely developed by TI on top of Eclipse).
