CCS/UNIFLASH: Status of Uniflash 4.3

Part Number: UNIFLASH

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello,

I am looking for a status update of Uniflash version 4.3. According to a previous posting (since closed) I was told Uniflash 4.3 would be available March 2018. Still looks like latest rev is 4.2.2. I need it for emulator support xds560v2.

Thanks,

Jeff

  • Hi Jeff,
The off-line version should be available by the end of this week (perhaps as early as tomorrow if all goes will). The Cloud version will be sometime next week.

    Thanks

  • I was playing around with the release candidate and it looks good so far. I was able to use my Blackhawk 560v2 to program my C28377D with UniFlash

    Thanks

  • Note that you still need to do the manual step of installing the drivers for your debug probe into the UniFlash directory (mentioned in the other thread you referenced)

    thanks

  • Hi Ki,

I noticed the latest version has been released. Per your instructions, I followed the various posts. Installed 4.3, unzipped the "zip" file. Ran the Spectrum Digital installers, pointed them to the uniflash base.

I receive an error when attempting to "Resync the Database" See following-
Error: ccs_base/common/targetdb/boards/evm6455.xml contains multiple description definitions

Any insight? I tried proceeding by closing and restarting uniflash, but the xds5600 is not listed as a supported connection.

    Thanks!

    Jeff
  • Hi Jeff,

Dropping in the Spectrum Digital package does not go as smooth as Blackhawk it seems. It is likely because the SD package as several additional configurations that Uniflash does not support. I had to clear out all the board files added by the SD package in .\deskdb\content\TICloudAgent\win\ccs_base\common\targetdb\boards to get the sync to be successful. But even with that, there were a few errors at the end regarding missing XDS510 files, but this is should not prevent you from using the XDS560v2

    Thanks

    ki

  • Hi Ki,

I followed your advice. I deleted all xml board files added by the installer at the above directory. I still got some weird errors, but the Spectrum digital emulator is now an option in the connection types.

Is there a reason this emulator support has been dropped? Are folks using a different hardware package that I should look into?
  • The XDS560v2 is not commonly used with our MCU family. Since UniFlash v4 only supports MCUs, the decision was made to not prioritize it.

While changes were made so that XDS560v2 support can be dropped into UniFlash v4.3, it should be noted that this combination is not officially supported (not tested).

    Thanks

  • Hi Ki,

Thanks for the response. What emulator would you recommend be used with the Tiva family MCUs?

    Thanks,

    Jeff
  • I'd recommend the XDS110 simply because it is our newest offering and a nice balance of price/performance:
    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../XDS110

But if you already have an XDS560v2, that should work fine. It is supported with Tiva in CCS desktop and I don't anticipate many issues occurring when dropping it into UniFlash v4.3 (other than what was mentioned already)

    Thanks
