CCS/TMS320C6746: Can't install Blackhawk drivers

I am installing CCS 8.0.0 and I am selecting Blackhawk Emulators support during the installation. At the installation time, USB-560M wasn't connected to my PC. I have connected it after the installation, which started the automatic driver installation, which failed without any extra information except that it failed. Then, I checked the status of the emulator in the Device Manager, and the status was that the driver can't be installed because "System cannot find the file specified" without any reference to which file was missing.

I also tried to follow instructions from the Blackhawk control panel, and after I clicked on Reinstall All ... button, I got the error message "Update Driver failed ! Error: Access is denied”.

I have tried different USB ports, reinstalling CCS with the emulator connected, but none of these helped. I was mainly running in circles getting these same error messages again and again. What should I try next?

Hi Sasha,
Are you using Windows 10? There is a known issue with some versions of the Blackhawk drivers requiring you to disable secure secure boot in the BIOS. This was fixed in the latest Blackhawk drivers v6.2.0.009. CCSv8.0 ships with an earlier version of the drivers so you can update the Blackhawk drivers to resolve this issue. Another option is to go back to the old workaround of disabling secure boot in the BIOS.

I forgot to mention I am on Windows 7. Should I still try to disable secure boot? Where do I get new Blackhawk drivers? Their Web site only offers really old ones.

You can use the CCS Update Manager: "Help -> Check for Updates". It will look for updates and should find one for Blackhawk

I wasn't able to install any updates because CCS reports that I already have v6.2.0.010, which is probably the newest version available. I think that's the version I was using while encountering all these errors.
Is there anything else I could try besides disabling secure boot?

hmm... I wonder if you are running into a different issue. Can you try disabling secure boot? If that fails to help, then we can confirm that it is an unrelated issue.
