CCS: PC-Trace - Trace view not connected

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I am trying to profile core DSP1 in TDA3 device.

I am using XDS560v2 PRO TRACE (but the same happen with USB560 v2 System Trace). I am able to load and run code without any issue. When I configure PC-trace with that settings:

I see that PC-trace is not connected and I am not able to get any traces…

I am using CCS 6.1.3 and Windows.

  • Hi,

I am not sure if Trace worked well in the version of CCS you are using (it's been a while since I used this particular version), but you can try a few things before trying to update your copy of CCS:

    - When opening the Trace configuration, click on the small red curved arrow to reset its settings and clear any possible previous conflicting settings;
    - If that does not work, you can close CCS and try erase all Trace temporary files. For the location of these files, check row 3 of table shown at the reference below:
    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Troubleshooting_CCSv6

If these two items do not work, you may need to update both the components named "TI Emulators" and "Auto Device Support" of your CCS. Check section 2.1 of the reference below for details:
    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Updating_CCSv6

Also, if you are not aware there is an interesting document that shows several aspects of Trace that may help you further:
    www.ti.com/.../sprac17b.pdf

I will try to validate this setup in CCSv8.0 here and report back.

    Hope this helps,
    Rafael
  • Hi,

Please apologize for the delay; I was able to properly run Trace on my CCSv8 here on my TDA3x board. Please check the short clip below:

Hopefully you will be able to update your copy and see if it works for you as well.

    Regards,

    Rafael
