I'm using the MSP-FET Flash Emulator Tool and MSP-FET-432 Adaptor with UniFlash 4.2.2.1692 to flash a MSP432P401R LaunchPad.

Upload completes successfully but the programmer doesn't reset the MSP432 to start running the executable.

The programmer lights on the red and green, corresponding to MSP-FET waiting for data transfer.

I went through different options.

  • On Settings and Utilities: On connect, perform Factory Reset doesn't look to fit a reset after.
  • On Settings and Tools, Target Access: Run Target After Program Load/Flash Operation is checked, to no avail.

The only solution I've found so far, I have to press on the RESET button on the LaunchPad to launch the executable.

How to configure reset after upload to launch the executable?

    If I use an xds110 I see the reset options:

    If I use the MSP-FET then the only option I have is to do a factory reset.

    I will check if there is a reason why that option is not present.

    These options are not being exposed by the configuration files for the MSP-FET.

    I have filed UNIFLASH-1030 to track this.

    Not sure yet. I am also looking into workarounds. We should be able to tweak the GEL startup file to do the reset. Will let you know once we test it out.

    Uniflash 4.3 (both online and offline) exposes the following for the MSP-FET connection on a MSP432P401R device:

    Once you click on it, the option becomes:

    Unfortunately, UniFlash 4.3.1.1835 doesn't reset the MSP432 connected through the MSP-FET Flash Emulator Tool as expected. I still have to press the reset button on the LaunchPad to launch the program after it has been uploaded.

    I see the same even with the previous version:

    I don't think it is a reset issue; if you notice, in the upper corner of your screen you see the device is, in fact, halted.

    The same does not happen with the XDS110 debug probe:
