CCS/TMS320C6678: Connecting to evm stuck on "initializing : IcePick_D (Cannot be canceled)"

Hi All,

I'm using CCS Version: 7.2.0.00013 On WIN 10 with TMS320C6678 and XDS560v2-USB Mezzanine, and facing a problem that if I try to run my program on the evb, I cannot connect and getting the message in the screenshot bellow:

If I try using the Verify connection (in the project properties) I get the following:

In both cases (trying to connect or verifying connection) the CCS is not responding and is crashing.

I took another board and on it everything works fine, how can I get my board to run regularly again?

Ronen,

Are you saying that the connection to this board was working fine before and there is some update/change in setup that is causing this issue? can you indicate what has changed since the last time the card was working.

Is it possible for you to take the Mezannine Card out and try the onboard emulator. Another experiment that could help is if you use the mezanine card from the working EVM on this board to determine if this is an issue with the card or the base EVM.

I am also moving this post to the CCS forum to see if our emulation experts can provide any other inputs to debug this issue.

Hi Rahul,

Thanks for the reply!
I removed the Mezzanine card and now working with XDS100v1 USB Debug Probe and it connects successfully!

The only change I did before was some integration with the SPI driver (maybe some initialization, but I don't think it was an issue).

I want to work with the Mezzanine card again, so I will appreciate an answer ASAP.

Ronen,

If you believe that the Mezzanine card is broken then your only option is to contact the board manufacturer/distributor and ask for a replacement

this is not he quickest way so I would contact them and check to see if they provide any diagnostic or updated firmware for the card that may fix your issue.

I do not think the Mezzanine card is broken, I simply want a way to return it and the EVM board back to it's default configurations.
Do you know how to do that? to return to "Factory Defaults" ?

Ronen,

A colleague internally pointed me to this discussion and article on E2E that was created in 2012. I request you to give this a try.

If you are not able to restore the setup then your only option is to contact Advantech for this issue as TI only provides factory images to restore the images in I2C EEPROM And NAND flash for the EVM and not for the Mezzanine card.
