CCS: Unable to edit launch configurations in CCSV8

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Recently installed CCSV8 and I am no longer able to edit launch configurations from within the CCS IDE.  The error message when trying to edit is:

"Exception occurred creating launch configuration tabs.  Reason:  No tab group defined for launch configuration type com.ti.ccstudio.debug.launchType.device.debugging"

A second message appears after OK is pressed as follows:

"No tabs defined for launch configuration type Code Composer Studio - Device Debugging"

Any help fixing this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jason

  • Hi Jason,
Are you trying to modify a launch configuration that was created by a previous version of CCS?

    Thanks

I have tried modifying both a new configuration generated by CCS8 as well as a configuration generated by CCS6.  The result is the same in either case.

    Thanks,

    Jason

  • Are you able to start a debug session with one of the launch files that you cannot edit?

Both the CCS6 and CCS8 launch configurations appeared to be able to start a debug session without issue.

  • Strange. Can you provide your full Eclipse Error Log and attach it to this thread?

  • Hi Jason, Is this still an issue? If so, can you provide the error log?
  • Ki-Soo,

  • Thanks Jason,
One of the engineers here feels that the installation got corrupted somehow - some plugin registration got messed up.

Just want to confirm that when you installed CCSv8, you installed in an empty new directory (you did not over install on top of an existing installation)?

If so, can you try reinstalling CCSv8 in another new (and empty) directory and see if that one fares better?

    Thanks
    ki
  • Hi Jason,
Did the reinstall help at all?
  • Hello,
I haven’t heard back from you, I’m assuming you were able to resolve your issue. If not, please post a reply with an update below (or create a new thread).

    thanks,
