CCS: BBB PRU development on Mac OS

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi there,

I've been having a lot of fun working with the beaglebone black and ccs, but since I'm on a mac it's been a bit painful. Dual booting to linux is no longer a simple thing on macs (you have to install a separate boot loader), and working with debug probe from a VM proved suboptimal (as the excellent PRU hands-on guides suggested it would).

I humbly beseech y'all: please bring support for processor devices to CCS for Mac OS!

Ben

  • Ben,

Performance of debug when using a VM on Mac is pretty poor. One thing I need to try sometime is to use an ethernet probe and see if it works better.

We periodically evaluate adding support for processors to the Mac version of CCS. So far the demand just has not been there. Posting like you did is the right thing to do. It was really traffic on E2E that helped justify doing the Mac version in the first place.

At this point in time we have no plans to add support for processors to the Mac version.

    Regards,
    John
