ccs4 licence expired...

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3S6965

hi,

i am using the ccs4 platinum for working with stellaris LM3S6965....I had downloaded the DVD image platinum edition and evaluated for 30 days..it was working perfectly fine....but now the license is expired and they are asking to register... when i press the register icon n log in the ti site.....its asking for some activation id....which id should i write there??....

please help out,

  • Saki,

Yes if you hit the register button it will prompt you for an activation code as it assumes you have purchased a copy of CCS and are ready to activate your license.  If you are looking to continue using CCS in evaluation mode there is a 90 day evaluation extension available.  You can get that here: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/FAQ_-_CCSv4#Q:_Where_is_the_link_to_the_90_day_eval_license.3F

    John

  • thanx john for ur kind reply......

i have gt the liceense extended for another 90 days but now i am facing the problem while i try 2 debug......i get an error....failed to initialize the target.invalid license type...

i read in some other forums that delete the old license file from ccs4/debugserver/license but to my knowledge there is only 1 .lic file available at that location and that is the cuurent license file which i saved to that location...no previous file was there.......

can u please help me what would the prob now be??

    thanks,

    saki

  • Saki,

Can you attach your license file as well as the licenselocation.txt file (both are in the \ccsv4\debugserver\license folder)?  Also are you running CCSv4.1.3 or CCSv4.2.0?

The most common cause of that error message is when using a Stellaris IDK that uses a different type of board locking than what is supported by CCS.  However in your case that shouldn't be happening as the eval license will work with anything.

  • Saki,

The license attached isn't the 90 day eval license it is a license that is restricted for use with specific development kits.  Basically it has a feature CCS_CONNECTION_RESTRICTED versus CCS_CONNECTION_ALL which would be in the eval.

Delete this file from your \debugserver\license folder. Go to http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/FAQ_-_CCSv4#Q:_Where_is_the_link_to_the_90_day_eval_license.3F

and follow the steps and it will email you a 90 day eval license that will work with your board.
