At launch, CCS 7.4 displays 

This issue seems similar to CCS: New workspace CCSv8 Getting Started error but for v7.4 instead of v8.0.

I need to use CCS v7.4 because v8.1 doesn't allow to use Energytrace without debugging, as per CCS: CCS 8.1.0: Using EnergyTrace Without Debugging Still Possible?
