CCS/TMS320C6678: CCS problems with installing PDK!!!!!!

Part Number: TMS320C6678

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Recently, i tried to renew my CCS to 7.40 but i don't uninstall my older version.I also downloaded and installed the PDK for C6678. I didn't choose the C/ti as the folder to install my PDK. During the installing process, i encountered a problem but ultimately, i finished my installing. when i opened my CCS and chose the products from my repository; there was a problem which i never met. How to fix this problem?

When you say renew, did you update a previous installation or did you install it to a new/different directory?

Are you sure the installation completed successfully?

I don't think this is the reason for the error, but if possible, could you try installing the PDK to a directory other than c:\Program Files (x86)?

  • I wanted to follow up to see if you were able to resolve this issue by installing the PDK to a directory other than the Program Files directory? That directory is known to cause some problems in CCS, so it advisable to avoid installing there, if feasible.
  • Sorry to reply you so lately . In my words , the 'renew' is i tried to install a higher version CCS without uninstalling my older version(CCS 5.3) . In this perspective , i couldn't install the PDK in the C/ti as it would overlap the older packages for CCS 5.3 . I  tried your solutions by changing other directory ,  for instance : C/TEXAS INSTRUMENTS. However, during the installing process, i encountered an error as the following picture:

This is generally not recommended, especially when updating to a version that is a couple of revisions newer. In this case, I would recommend a fresh install of CCS 7.4 into a different directory (if you wish to still keep the older version), or completely delete the previous version first and then reinstall to the same directory.

You can keep multiple versions of CCS installed at a time, for instance, install them to folders like c:\ccs_740, c:\ccs_810, etc. I would suggest installing CCS in a directory other than c:\ti and the PDK into c:\ti. However, if you do not wish to install the PDK to c:\ti, that is ok too. Just try installing to a directory without spaces in the path, something like c:\ti2. Hopefully that will resolve the issues you've been having.
