CCS/TMDSSOLARPEXPKIT: Connect error with XDS200

Part Number: TMDSSOLARPEXPKIT
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSEMU200-U

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

HI

First I am working on solar Explorer Kit, I wish to program piccolo F28035x control card through JTAG with XDS200 emulator also I using CCS 8.0

I following every stage about connect with XDS200 but it didn`t work

1. with XDS100 USB connect was just fine

2. I add Jumper [M7]-J5 connect with JTAG

3. also Target configuration was fine too

4.but the when i debug with CCS, the power loss error has occur

5.also when I was trying to TMDSDCDCLEDKIT same error occur

I was thought XDS200 should wrong so I trying to TR28335 with XDS200i and alternative 5V power

then.. it work fine.

I don`t know what I should do

can somebody help this situation?

ps : when USING TR28335 with JTAG, need alternative 5V but other board (such as solarexplorerkit) don`t need them (because it has already alternative power)
right??

ps : I using XDS200 name "SDS200i"

sincerely thank you

  • Hi,

The error -180 is explained in the reference below: basically it indicates the target device has no power on the TVRef pin.

    http://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/esd/documents/ccs_debugging_jtag_connectivity_issues.html#power-loss

However, I am not entirely sure what exactly are the Debug Probes you are testing: are you testing a XDS200 (TMDSEMU200-U), a SDS200i or both? If so, which one works?

Looking at the board diagram you attached and the kit user's guide, you still need to provide power to the emulation logic via a USB connector attached to JP1.

If that does not work, you can try to isolate the issue and connect your XDS200 to the TR28335 board and see if it works.

If that still does not work, you need to contact the manufacturer of both the TR28335 and the SDS200i, as they may not be following the pinout standard the XDS200 uses. We don't support the SDS200i.

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi desouza

    thank you for reply

first my JTAG was only SDS200i not XDS200 and your comment was resolved my issue power loss problem was complete, but... there is more complex

can you help me little more?

when I try to change JTAG from xds100v, just pull the jumper on [M7]-J5 am I right? (of course [Main]-J4 populate)

when I start CCS with SDS200i, it interact but when I connect with DSP error occured

Error - 1135 debug probe reported an error

confirm debug probe configurations, reset the debug probe, and retry the operation.

so I touch test connection to find the reason,  then "SC_ERR_PATH_MEASURE" is found

    now what should I do?

can you help me little more?

    ps 1 : general setup is right(in SDS200i manual)

    ps 2 : what is [M3]-J5?

in 49pages (you scripted)    place a jumper across[M3]-J5 and connect the emulator to the board.

  • CAN you help little more?

I think this is a typo on the documentation. The main board view mentions that [M7] J5 is the "On-board emulation disable jumper", which is congruent with the fact you need to disable it to use an external Debug Probe (emulator).

The screenshot is not shown, but the error SC_ERR_PATH_MEASURE can happen if two Debug Probes are connected to the same device.

    Hope this helps,
