CCS/F28M35H52C: Issue with generating output binary format

Part Number: F28M35H52C

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

I am working on project made for c28 dsp that is compiling and building on F28m35h52c1 microcontroller.  I am using CCS6.

I need to generate output binary format file from CCS6 for c28 that has the flash data which could be used to program c28 flash with windows flash program over ethernet.

I am unable to generate such binary file that has the address and related data information.

Any help in that will be appreciated.

Regards

Adnan

  • You can use a post-build step in CCS similar to what is described here to generate a binary file from the .out executable file. I'm not sure if this is the specific format you are looking for, but if not, there are also several other hex file formats you could generate using the hex conversion utility. For details about the different formats supported by the hex utility please see Chapter 12 of the C28x Assembly Language Tools Users Guide.

  • Hi,

I am unable to figure out , how to generate binary file out from hex utility in CCS6. I am working on the dsp C28.

Actually the intel hex format generate files with data in two sections one starting at 0x138000 and the other starting at 0x13e000. In between the these two addresses where the data ends, locations are FFs.

I need a binary file with all the data starting with 0x138000 till the end of 0x13e000.

Any help in that regard will be appreciated.

    Regards
  • Entering this command into the post-build field in CCS (found under Project Properties → Build → Steps tab) should generate a binary output file for the corresponding project.

    "${CCS_INSTALL_ROOT}/utils/tiobj2bin/tiobj2bin" "${BuildArtifactFileName}" "${BuildArtifactFileBaseName}.bin" "${CG_TOOL_ROOT}/bin/ofd2000" "${CG_TOOL_ROOT}/bin/hex2000" "${CCS_INSTALL_ROOT}/utils/tiobj2bin/mkhex4bin"
  • Thanks AartiG, that solved my problem and it works.
