CCS/TMS570LS1224: CCSv8 install on WSL Ubuntu 18.04 : libc6-i386 not found

Hi !

I am trying to install the TI compilers and CCSv8 on my ubuntu distribution install on WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux). Each time I get an error message saying libc6 is not found.

I have install libc6 with `sudo apt-get install libc6-i386`.

Does anyone have a clue to why this is not xworking ?

Is there any other way to install this software ? Is there any other way I can install the compiler and flasher for my device ? (LaunchPad, TMS570LS1224)

Why do you need WSL?
Why do not you take CCS8.2 linux installer and follow the instructions?

Hi.

I need to use WSL to conform with my team’s workflow and tools. I also need to use the project’s bash scripts that need CCSv8 installed.

I do use the Linux installer.

What is your PC architecture?
Is your Ubuntu a 64-bit version?

Try this:

Add support for the 32-bit architecture:
$ sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386

Update your apt and install the necessary 32-bit C libraries
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install libc6:i386

The Linux instructions at the site pointed by Aarti were wrong; the command to be added is libc6:i386 (also hinted by Tomasz below).

I corrected the document, which should be available soon in the external server.

This is only half the answer, it looks like x64 linux in WSL does not have support for 32bit binary format. You can work around this by using qemu and binfmt.

sudo apt update
sudo apt install qemu-user-static
sudo update-binfmts --install i386 /usr/bin/qemu-i386-static --magic '\x7fELF\x01\x01\x01\x03\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x03\x00\x03\x00\x01\x00\x00\x00' --mask '\xff\xff\xff\xff\xff\xff\xff\xfc\xff\xff\xff\xff\xff\xff\xff\xff\xf8\xff\xff\xff\xff\xff\xff\xff'
sudo service binfmt-support start

Thanks for the additioanl details. CCS is not tested on WSL, only on native Linux.
