Update:

Closing the Registers Window and opening it again on each debug session seems to more or less address the issue. But is that the expected behaviour ?

Hi Manu,
In your first screenshot, I see the real-time mode is not enabled. You would need to enable it if you want real-time register updating while the target is running.

Thanks for the reply. I did try real time mode also. But still the Register Window would not update at all. But accidentally noticed that, if I closed the Register window, then opened it again, then the Register window would start updating again.

Wondered why I had to close and open teh Register Window to see Registers getting updated again. wondered whether I was doing something wrong, or probably known issue. The problem definitely is not related to real time view, as that was tried to, still the Register window not updating at all.

hmm... can you try cleaning your workspace?

Manu, you can just have CCS switch to a new workspace folder and keep your existing one. You have multiple workspace folders and switch between them

Could you try updating you CCS version to the latest (8.2.0)? I can't say for sure that there is a known fix for your issue in 8.2.0 but there is a chance. Also from a support standpoint, it is always easiest for us of people can try the latest version.

Hi Ki,

I got a bit tied up with some things that required urgent attending to.

One problem that I have in changing CCS installation is that, there are already projects that I am working on in that workspace. CCS installation is something that is so fragile and is waiting to break even with a breeze that's going to blow. ;-) That's one reason why I am very hesitant to make that switch to another version.

If the installation blows up and nothing works after that, I am going to be in a terrible mess. Is there something that can be done without changing to another version ? Or at least are you are really sure that the problem is fixed with the new version ?

I can't guarantee that the issue is resolved in the newer versions. It is one of those things where I can't reproduce the issue and I would just like to rule out the possibility some old bug that was fixed in a newer version.

I understand your concern. One thing you can do is install CCSv8.2 in a completely separate location and use a completely new workspace for it. Then import a copy of your projects into the workspace while leaving the original workspace folder (and projects in them) completely alone. That way if you do encounter some migration issue, your original environment should not be impacted
