CCS/TMS570LS3137: CCS8.2 fails with Spectrum Digital XDS510USB on TMS570

Part Number: TMS570LS3137
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDS570LS31HDK

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I recently tried to migrate from CCS7.3 to CCS8.2. When trying to launch my target configuration for a Spectrum Digital XDS510USB and a TMS570LS3137. I get the following error message. The same target configuration works on CCS7.3. Note that the Cortex R4 has a 32 bit address space.

  • Hi Bob,
I can't seem to connect to my TMDS570LS31HDK with a SD510USB with any CCS version. I tried 6.2, 7.3, 7.4, 8.2. For 8.2, I get the same error you see. For the others, I get the below error:

Register, Initialization, OCS, Cannot access register at 0x00000030

Is there some extra settings for the SD510USB that is needed?

    Thanks
    ki
  • I think you have recreated my problem on CCS8.2. Note that I get that error when launching the target configuration. I don't get to the point where I have to connect, therefore you can recreate the issue without a target.

I am actually using a board with a TI 14-pin JTAG connector and have no problem with the SD-XDS510USB on CCS7.3. The issue you are seeing with the HDK may be because it has the 20-pin ARM JTAG connector. There is also a 20 pin TI JTAG connector that is different. Perhaps you have the wrong adapter on the  SD-XDS510USB. Also make sure the on-board XDS100v2 is disconnected. There is an LED below the external JTAG connector that should be on.

I have attached my target configuration file:

    /cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/81/TMS570LS3137_5F00_SDXDS510USB.ccxml

  • Yes, I am using two adapters, with the XDS510USB plugged into a TI 14-pin to TI 20-pin adapter, and then a TI-20 pin to ARM-20 pin adapter which plugs in to the board. I believe this should work. I replaced the XDS510USB with a XDS560v2 (with a 14-pin connector) and everything worked.
  • It seems you are running into a different issue with the adapters and the HDK. Since I do not have that problem , and my issue can be recreated without connecting to a target system, can we separate the two issues?
  • Bob - we are having some internal discussions regarding your issue. I have copied you to the e-mail discussion.
  • The original issue was handled off-line. For those following the thread, it will be resolved with the next TI Emulators Pack update.

    Thanks
