Has TI published any CentOS 7 Installation notes for the latest CCS release? I'm running the latest 4.19 kernel with the latest CentOS 7 release and wanted something to look at before running the installation.

Hi Shane,
If any exists, it would be in the first document Tomasz listed:
software-dl.ti.com/.../ccsv8_linux_host_support.html

Looking at the doc, there does not appear to be any specific instructions of CentOS. Note that the doc has a bit of erroneous information. It mentions that testing is done on one CentOS version. This was the case for older CCS version (CCSv6). But for current versions, only recent Ubuntu LTS releases are tested with CCS.

I want to go ahead and ask this question in the case I cannot get CCSv7 to work (which is unlikely since it was tested with CCSv6) on CentOS. Do I have alternative options for development and flashing my board in a CentOS 7 environment w/ a XDS200 debugger?

Maybe I am optimistic but I think it will work on CentOS 7.

As for alternative flashing solution, there is UniFlash. Both Cloud and Desktop versions exist:

I went ahead and downloaded the "CCS8.2.0.00007_linux-x64" and extracted it. Inside was a readme.txt (among other files and dirs). I opened the readme and all it said was...

For platform specific instructions please read the platform specific README's
README_first_linux.txt
README_first_mac.txt
README_first_win.txt

I couldn't find any of these other readme files anywhere (perhaps I missed it). Why they don't just include the instructions in the top level readme is confusing but oh well.

I went ahead and looked at the permissions of the ".bin" file which was...
-rwxr-xr-x. 1 shane shane 9.9M Sep 6 08:51 ccs_setup_linux64_8.2.0.00007.bin

Since it was already setup and ready to execute I typed...
./ccs_setup_linux64_8.2.0.00007.bin

It acted like it was doing something and then returned me to a bash prompt like it finished. I was expecting a GUI installer to pop up but it didn't. Any ideas?

The installer might be missing a required library.

Are there any "bitrock" installer log files in /tmp? If so, they should have more details on the problem.

Can you try running:

> sudo yum install libXScrnSaver glibc.i686
