CCS/TMS320VC5509A: Error when starting ROV Classic tool

Part Number: TMS320VC5509A

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

I'm trying to use the ROV Classic tool when debugging my CCS project, but get the following error message:

Where do I find the log file referred to in the error message?

I'm running CCS v 8.2.0.

Compiler version: TI v 4.4.1

DSP/BIO version: 5.42.1.09

Regards,

Ragnar Eckhoff

  • Ragnar,

There is an issue with ROV classic in CCSv8.2. There is an update for it available. If you go to the help menu and select check for updates there should be some updates displayed. The ones you need would be labelled ROV or DVT. Unfortunately I have installed it already so I can't recall what the name was.

    Regards,
    John
  • I've tried to install the update, but it fails during installation. I get a long list of errors starting like this:

An error occurred while collecting items to be installed
    session context was:(profile=epp.package.cpp, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.Collect, operand=, action=).
Unable to read repository at software-dl.ti.com/.../com.ti.dvt.analysis.framework_4.1.0.201810091500.jar.
sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target
    ....

Is it possible to download the update before installing, and install it off-lline?

    Regards,

    Ragnar

  • We have been seeing that error lately. Seems to be some sort of interaction with security software. Some people are able to work around it bu adjusting their security settings but that can be a pain.

I will see if I can get the installer in a form that can be run outside of the update tool. Are you on Windows or Linux?

    John
  • Ok I have a version of the update that we can try offline. It is a zip that you can download, extract and then add the location as an off-line update site in CCS and it will install the update from there.

Or CCSv8.3 is due out tomorrow and it has the fix included.

I have uploaded the update to our download server and I am just waiting for it to sync. I will post the link once it is live.
  • The update is available here:

Go to Help -> Install New software.

Click the button to add a new update site and add the location where the zip is extracted.

Click ok and you should now see the update:

  • Thank you! That did the trick. I have installed the update, and ROV is now working as it should.

    Regards,

    Ragnar

  • Great!

Hopefully we can figure out what is going on with that sun security validator message. A number of people have started hitting that.

    John
