CCS: CCS for solaris

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C40

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I am looking for the pdm tool compatible with sun4u SunOS 5.5.

Is it downloadable on TI web site ?

On an old project (but always active), with target is TMS320C40, we were using TMS320C4x XDS510/XDS510WS DEBUGGER PACKAGE v2.4 on an old sun4c SunOS 4.1.

For different reason, not detailled here, we need to merge on a sun4u SunOS 5.5. We have copied all the files on the sun4u.

The debugger (emu4x) and other command (emurst) run without problem. We have same xds510 functionnality and executed tests on target whit same comportement.

But we have an issue with the pdm tool : « can not communicate with CPU_A/ B ». The documentation recommends to reinstate the product, but I have not the original media.

How the pdm executable copied is from the sun4c SunOS 4.1, I'm not sure that it is compatible with sun4u...

Best for us will be to have the TMS320C4x XDS510/XDS510WS DEBUGGER PACKAGE for sun4u SunOS 5.5, or the lastest version solaris/sparc available (and we will try to merge to the compatible solaris/sparc)

I don't know when the name changed to CCS, may be first CCS version could be ok but I didn't find downloadable solaris version  on the TI web site...

  • Hi,

I am unsure if we will be able to fulfill this request, given that it may not be available anymore in the archived versions, but I will confirm with other folks around here.

The SunOS/Solaris version of Code Composer Studio was discontinued more than ten years ago - if i recall correctly, Code Composer Studio 2.x was the last version available for this platform, but it did not support C4x - instead only Code Composer (not Studio) was fully furnished to do that.

  • Julien,

I do have a Code Composer 3.0 installation CD. It is 20 years old (1998). I could create an image from it and upload it. I have no way of testing out that it is still good as we have no Solaris machines anymore.

Do you have the software key? I am guessing that you do if you are able to run the one you currently have. Back then we used a hardware dongle that you had to plug into a parallel port or a software key. I believe the Solaris one was software key.

There could be a dependency on something that was there on SunOS 4.x that is not present on 5.x that is triggering that error.

  • Hi,

The lack of answers makes us believe this issue was solved by other means and this thread will be closed. If this is still an outstanding issue, please reopen this discussion.
