CCS/CC3220SF-LAUNCHXL: Windows Defender Filerwall blocks tclsh application during CCS installation

Part Number: CC3220SF-LAUNCHXL

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

Each time, During I install CCSv7 or v8,  Windows defender always gave warning messages

on a popup window says that Tclsh application was blocked.  There are two options can be selected :

1. accepted.

2. cancel

Depends on the network environment and security policy of an orgnization, user "cancel" to

allow tclsh to be executed during or after CCS installation.

In this case, what will be happended and any interference it will take place in CCS features?

Thanks.

  • Hi,

If I understood your question correctly, you are asking if tclsh can be blocked during or after the CCS install, right?

If so, the tclsh application cannot be blocked for the CCS software to install properly.

After install, I haven't seen a scenario where the tclsh is executed, but I will confirm that with other developers and report back.

  • H Rafael,

    Thanks for answer.

    > If so, the tclsh application cannot be blocked for the CCS software to install properly.

Yes. In case If  user blocked the tclsh during CCS install, what features will be disabled or not work correctly?

    Thanks and waiting the report.

  • Hi,

I don't have a list of features that will be impacted, but tclsh scripts are spread across the setup process. We consider it as a requirement to keep the integrity of the installed software.

I talked to other developers and found out that tclsh is also used during the process of updating CCS with newer components but nothing else.

In this case, our recommendation is to refrain from blocking access of tclsh from the firewall.

    Rafael
