CCS: TMS320C31 device is not found in CCS

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

I'm just started to learn CCS as I got a task to develop/modify some DSP code for a TMS320C31 device.

The original program code wasn't written by using CCS however I would like to use it. I've tried to create a new project however I couldn't find the device I need, only the c28xx, c40 and so on but c31.

First I downloaded the CCS v8 then I read somewhere that for this device I need the CCS v4 and, despite I was a bit suspicious that in a later version an earlier device shall be included, I've downloaded the v4 too but still no luck.

Can someone help me?

    TMS320C31 is a very old product and is not supported by Code Composer Studio (neither is C40). You actually have to go back prior to Code Composer Studio to a "Code Composer" product. We do not sell this anymore but you can obtain it from one of our partners, Spectrum Digital.

    The debug probe for C31 is also special. C40 and VC33 were JTAG but C31 would have been MPSD. Note that these products are very old and not at all verified on modern computers or operating systems.
