CCS/F28M36P63C2: XDS100V2 Emulator test connection fail

Hello all,

I have been trying to connect to my custom made F28M36 board and when i set the adaptive clocking frequency and test the connection, i get the following error message

This error is generated by TI's USCIF driver or utilities.

The value is '-151' (0xffffff69).
The title is 'SC_ERR_FTDI_OPEN'.

The explanation is:
One of the FTDI driver functions used during the connect
returned bad status or an error. The cause may be one or
more of: no XDS100 is plugged in, invalid XDS100 serial number,
blank XDS100 EEPROM, missing FTDI drivers, faulty USB cable.
Use the xds100serial command-line utility in the 'common/uscif'
folder to verify the XDS100 can be located.

I verified while using MPROG to load the correct .ept file into EEPROM, that i have VID=0403 PID=A6D0. What could cause this error?

Srini,

The error above is discussed in the reference below, with several tips to troubleshoot this (just search for the erro code 151):

That said, F28M36 does not use Adaptive Clock. You should use the Fixed clock setting on your Target Configuration File.

Hello,

Thank you. I believe there was a problem with the JTAG not being recognized by the device manager in my computer. The JTAG test is a success now and i am able to connect and execute applications on my board.

However while connecting targets and debugging i got the following message on my console,

"Flash programming on Rev E/Rev F (device revision) onwards needs TI C2000 Device support package v4.1.4.3 or newer. Make sure to check and install the updates!"

How would i rectify this?

Should I chose not to update it, will it hamper my application in any manner?

Srini,

This is a question the device experts at the C2000 forum would have to answer, as they are the most knowledgeable about the device; in my opinion, if the message is posted, it is probably very important.
