CCS/TMS320DM642: Blackhawk BH_USB510L Support in CCS 5.5

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I am trying to debug an old DSP system using TI Code Composer Studio V5.5, with a Blackhawk BH-USB-510L JTAG emulator.  When I try to set up a Target Configuration, after I select BH-USB-510L, I get a bunch options under "Board or Device", but none for the TMS320DM642.  That part seems to be supported (according to Blackhawk) but I don't see it.  Am I missing something?

I also tried to install updates, hoping the support would show up.  However, when I try to update drivers, I get the following error:

"No repository found at http://www.blackhawk-dsp.com/updates/ccsv53/linux."

Browsing to that url gives me a 403 - Forbidden error. What is the correct link?

    Bob,

    I tried a few different CCS versions on Windows and Linux and for me I can select the 510L and DM642.

    CCSv8.2 WIndows

    CCSv5.5 Windows

    CCSv7.2 Linux

    If you select a different debug probe does the DM642 show up?

    As far as the update site.  It looks like Blackhawk may have moved it.  You shouldn't need an update for this configuration.

    Were you able to get this going? If you do not see DM642 for any debug probe selection then it is likely that the necessary device family was not selected during installation. DM642 would likely be part of DaVinci.

    Yes, I was finally able to get this working.  Blackhawk suggested going to CCS 8.3, which they said was free - that surprised me, given that the TI wiki has a very prominent item in its table of contents about free licenses for older versions...

    TI no longer charges for CCS. You can download and use the latest versions. For older versions that have the built in licensing system that requires a license file (v4, 5, 6) we have links to a license file to enable free use of those versions as well.
