Why call L2 IRAM?

Hi All,

I would like to ask a question on the memory section "IRAM".

I found this term in customizing RTSC platform. In the screenshot below, I compared the base and length of this IRAM and found both of them match L2 RAM/Cache.

So it is almost certain that IRAM is L2, they refer to the same thing.

But why is it called IRAM? What does IRAM stand for (acronym)? Is this still the traditional L2? What is the technology change behind this name change?

Sincerely,
Zheng
