Indexer slowdown after build.

Running CCS V8.2 I have the extreme slowdown -- apparently indexer issue -- directly after build. HTOP shows 100% CPU usage for 5 to 20 minutes.

From searching threads this was apparently a problem in version 8.0 but had a fix for 8.1 and 8.2.

It seems to be back..

System is ubuntu 1804, Oracle Java 8,9, 11(same problem on all), 32Gig Ram.

No other applications running.

Any ideas?

Try CCS v8.3.
It solves many indexer issues.

Patrick,

As Tomasz mentioned there are indexer fixes in CCSv8.3. It may or may not help depending on what is tripping up the indexer. Another option is to disable the indexer. You can do that by going to the preferences dialog. Click on show advanced settings at the bottom and then go to here:

Patrick,
how huge is your workspace in terms of number of projects, files, GB?
Do you use SSDs od HDDs?
Could you increase JVM heap size to 1536 MB an check how does it affect performance?

8.3 still had the slowdown.

So I turned off the indexer. Rebuilt several projects. Turned the indexer back on. And it is working reasonably fast.

It might be a case of the indexer chasing it's tail.

BTW... I turned off heuristics when I re-enabled the indexer.

Maybe the database it had build was corrupted and needed to be rebuilt. Anyway good to hear that it is ok now.
