CCS/TMS320F28335: Watch expression value showing "Target is running"

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I'm not sure what changed but I used to be able to watch global variables in CCS during a debug session with C2000 hardware. Now I'm getting a message saying "Target is running" and I have to pause execution of the program to view variable values. Any ideas how to fix this? See attached images below

Looks like real-time mode is not enabled:

When I click the "enable realtime mode" button I get the following message:

After clicking yes, I have the same issue (no realtime updates and "target is running in the value field).

If I try to enable realtime mode through the project properties I get the following error when trying to load the program onto the processor:

I'm not sure what changed but now I'm able to view correct values during debugging again (without realtime debugging enabled).

That is somewhat surprising. You normally would need real-time mode to be enabled to access target memory while running. Perhaps it is actually enabled under the hood. Unless the option to auto-halt the target when making debugger accesses is enabled.

In any case, I am glad to hear that you are able to view the variables as desired.
