CCS/TMS320C6726B: Viewing .hlp files in CCS v3.3

Part Number: TMS320C6726B

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

I had two questions about the .hlp (Windows help) files associated with older CCS versions (e.g. v3.3).

(1) Does TI offer any workaround or modern version of these help files or their content so that they can be viewed on later versions of Windows (e.g. Windows 10)?  Apparently, Microsoft has stopped supporting this file format, and only provides exe's/msu's up to Windows 8.1 (see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/917607/error-opening-help-in-windows-based-programs-feature-not-included-or-h).

(2) Do the help files contain any information beyond what is available in the TI pdf documents (e.g. spru, spra, ..), or is it just the same information accessible within the application?

Thanks,

Alec

I was using the same Microsoft utility (WinHlp32.exe) on Windows 7 and ran into the same issue as you when I switched to Windows 10. I never found a solution for Windows 10 so I have to view the Help on my Windows 7 and XP machines.

There is additional information in the CCS hlp files that does not exist elsewhere.

  • Okay, thanks for replying. Here's the workaround that I ended up finding: superuser.com/.../1183712
