CCS/TMS320C6747: There is no data in RTOS Analyzer views

We are trying to evaluate the performance of the C6747 processor, but we cannot see anything in the CPU Load Data view in CCS V5.5, see below screenshots.

We had tried the newer version V7.4, even the view cannot be opened, the emulator we are using is "Blackhawk XDS560v2-USB System Trace Emulator", please help to check, thanks.

Those views look like the ones for the Legacy RTA views. Are you using DSP/BIOS? If so, the legacy RTA tools for DSP/BIOS are not supported starting with CCS version 6 and greater.

I will bring this thread to the attention of the BIOS experts. But do note that DSP/BIOS has been deprecated in support.

Yes we are using DSP/BIOS 5.42, as we are doing product upgrade not a completely new product, we cannot afford introducing a new OS.

Let me clarify a little bit more, in v5.5 we used the RTA legacy mode, and it didn't show any data. In v7.4, the legacy mode is not supported as you mentioned, so we tryied using "Runtime Object View" but it cannot be opened.

Can you give more details? For example: do you get an error? It is blank? It does not connect?

Hi Todd,
Please see the screen shot I posted before, views like "CPU Load"/"CPU Load Data"/"Statictics Data" are all empty, so I cannot get the cpu usage percentage, "Raw Logs" and "Printf Logs" are showing some messages but these messages don't help.

Hi Mark,

Sorry. I let this fall through the cracks.

Logging looks like it is working because I see the raw log records. Can you run the Stairstep example from DSP/BIOS? If you do and see the CPU Load, then something is wrong with you target code generation of the Load. If if does not show up, it is probably a CCS issue.

Hi Todd,

I have tried Stairstep and it didn't show the cpu load data either, will it be fixed if it is a CCS issue?

Hi Mark,

I'll see if I can reproduce this on my environment. You are using Windows 10 it looks like.

Note that CCSv5.5 is not supported anymore so if there is a bug with CCS that requires a fix, there is little that we can do for that. The best I can offer is to see if I can find a workaround for you.

Hi Mark,
I tried this out on CCSv5.5 in Windows 10-64, using the C674x of my OMAP-L137 EVM. I used a simple BIOS example from the template and was able to get the CPU Load graph to display data. Can you try a simple BIOS example to see if you can get that to work?
