CCS/TMDSEMU110-U: User Uart COM Port not available

Part Number: TMDSEMU110-U

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello everybody,

recently I installed the newest version of Code Composer, work with different debug probes and installed different drivers. Somewhere along the way my xds110 debug probe stoped working. Unfortunately I do not know what caused the issue. I am trying to use the serial interface on the aux.function connector but cannot find the "uart user" COM port. The only com port which shows up in the device manager is named "XDS110 Class Auxiliary Data Port".

The serial number was cleared (0000000). I have updated the firmware from C:\ti\ccsv8\ccs_base\common\uscif\xds110m and assigned a new Serial number. On the back of the debug probe it says "Serial #: ETP _1801008". Since only 8 digits are allowed as serial number, I assigned _1801108.

Am I am using the wrong serial number or the wrong firmware?

I would appreciate any advice – thank you

Kristin

  • Kristin,

The serial number stored in the firmware is arbitrary and do not require to match the unit's sticker.

In your particular case, I suspect there is something else wrong with the device drivers of your XDS110 - it should expose two ports, as shown in the section "Troubleshooting" of the XDS110 page below.

In the same section you have a procedure to reinstall the Windows drivers.
    dev.ti.com/.../

Please give this procedure a try to see if you can restore the functionality of your debug system.

    Hope this helps,
    Rafael
