CCS: CC2630 Failure analysis

Part Number: CC2630

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

1.The sleep current of the normal terminal node is about 2-3uA, and the sleep current of the abnormal terminal node is about 220uA, which is greater than the sleep current of the normal terminal node by about 218uA. The poor rate of this phenomenon is 18%.Check the chip and find that CLK pin is shorted to GND.

2.The main chip damage is unknown。

Now it is no longer able to ship properly, I hope TI can help with the failure analysis.

  • Hello,
What failure analysis or investigating have you done? Do you believe that the units were received damaged or that the devices were damaged during assembly/test? How many failing units do you have?

    Regards,
    Chris
  • Hello, the customer found the problem of large quiescent current in the terminal product, and then randomly extracted 100 pieces from the inventory of the finished module. The sampling result is about 18%. The test found that the clk pin was shorted to the GND pin and could not be programmed again. After replacing the chip, it will return to normal.

I think that it may be disturbed by external conditions such as static electricity during the production assembly process, resulting in damage to the chip. The phenomenon of damage is more concentrated, I think the most likely problem is the program burning process. However, there is not enough evidence to prove this point, and the customer picks up the process and found no problems.

The defective products currently delivered to me are around 15pcs. Customers want the factory to help with some testing to find the root cause of the problem as quickly as possible.

  • Hi Chris,

Can you provide a link to the failure analysis and send the sample to you. This issue has affected the customer's shipment, please help me. Thank you.

  • My understanding is that you have started the FA process. I will close this thread, but please post 'Ask a related question'. If you have additional questions.

    Regards,
    Chris
