CCS/CODECOMPOSER: Energia.app (on Mac) won't install in Products under Preferences

Part Number: CODECOMPOSER
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ENERGIA

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello,

I'm using CCS on a Mac, and I'm trying to use CCS to develop an Energia sketch. However, for some reason, it does not recognize the Energia.app when I try to create a new sketch. Likewise, when I try to install the tool in Products under Preferences, it won't install. I've noticed that this problem has been reported previously, but none of the previous suggestions have solved my problem.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Todd

  • Todd,

I can see the same issue on my Mojave machine. I have filed CCDSK-3598 to track this. I will also give it a try on Windows to see if it works there.

  • I checked and on Windows the same version of Energia (21) is detected. It warns that it is newer than the first that was tested with CCS. I am going to try version 18 on Mac to see if that works.
  • Energia 18 works fine on Mac with CCSv9. For now I would recommend downloading that version. It is the first one listed under previous versions.

  • I see you rejected the answer. The answer is that Energia 21 is not compatible with CCS on Mac. We will have to figure out what has changed in Energia and address that. CCDSK-3598 will track that change. For now using Energia 18 is the solution on Mac.

  • Sorry for the "inadvertent" rejection - I was actually doing some testing on my Windows machine while I was waiting on you and couldn't actually get the build to work. But, when I installed CCS version 9 on the Mac along with Energia 18, I was able to successfully build and run. I also checked the CCS cloud version, and it appears to be using Energia 18 as well.
  • Thanks Todd. Unfortunately CCS and Energia tend to get a bit out of sync. There were some changes that were supposed to help with maintaining compatibility but something seems to have broken with Energia 21. Hopefully it is something that can be easily fixed.

    Regards,
    John
