CCS/TMS320F2812: Connecting F2812 using Parallel port from Win 7 64-Bit PC

Part Number: TMS320F2812

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

I have been using Parallel port for connecting TMS320F2812 target through CC Studio 5.3 (Installed on Win 7 32-Bit OS) and it was working fine.
I was able to Erase, flash, program and debug. But, when I tried the same setup in WIN7 (64-Bit PC), I am not able to even connect the target.

Note : In addition to default CCS 5.3 installation, I have also installed 'setupCCSPlatinum_v30330.exe'
(support.spectrumdigital.com/.../) to enable the connectivity between F2812 target and CCS running in Win 7 (32-Bit PC). Even this driver didnt help for Win-7 64-Bit PC

Please let me know a way forward for this issue.
Or please share us the similar driver that will support Win 7 64-Bit OS.

Thanks and Regards,

R.Balakrishnan

  • The drivers for CCSv5.3 should be installed when you install CCS. However it does not look like Spectrum created a 64bit driver for their parallel port products. When I look at their website I see this note.

"Compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and Win7 (32bit only)"

Thus you are not going to be able to debug over parallel port on a 64bit machine.

I would recommend purchasing a cheap XDS100v2 to connect to this board.

  • Thanks John. I got a similar reply from Spectrum digital too.
