CCS: about getting an input at line input point....

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6416

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

i am not getting the sine wave in graphs when i am giving sine wave as input at line input point in TMS320C6416.I am getting some random vlaues in the graph.do i need to activated any sampling process for the board or what should i do ?

  • Hi,

I am not very knowledgeable about the intrinsic details of the TMS320C6416 device nor its development kit, but from a pure software and tools standpoint I have the following comments:

    - The values you show don't seem to represent a sinewave, or at least one with a wide dynamic range - the minimum and maximum values only differ by 37 counts. If the software is correct and it is properly reading the line input ADC, it may be an input signal connection issue.

    - The values indicate this is a signed integer - perhaps you need to properly configure the graph to display them. Details to do that are shown in section 7.7 of the CCS User's Guide. if you have CCS 9.1, this user's guide is available at the Help. Otherwise, you can access it at:

    http://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/esd/documents/users_guide/index.html

I will also try to contact someone that is more knowledgeable than I in the device intrinsics to comment here.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael

  • Hi Ijjada Hari,

TMS320C6416 is a very old DSP. It is not recommended for a new design NRND and TI recommends to migrate to TMS320C6657 or TMS320C6746.
