Hi Justin,
What do you mean by "hide"? Do mean that you wish to exclude the file from the build? Or do you just wish to just filter it out from the Project Explorer view?

Yes, ‘filter' the files from display in project explorer. From the architecture described in the links shared I would expect this to be available through ‘Customize View’ as described -

hmm... looks like the Project Explorer view does not support customer file name patters.
If this functionality is important for you, you can try using the C/C++ Projects view (under 'View -> Other -> C/C++ -> C/C++ Projects). This view does support it:
