CCS/MSP430F5529: Project properties lost

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

One day I can Build Project, the next day nothing happens. "Build Configurations" options are all grey. Pretty sure there used to be a Properties\General tab - that's gone. Right-click\"Build selected file(s)" is grey.

I'm not sure what I did, if anything. I'm already aware of how fragile CCS projects are and know to be careful.

I tried to copy/paste the project but that fails with the following detail: "Could not read metadata for "C:\Users\xxxxxxx\properties.index". malformed input around byte 32

How do I recover my project?

Have you tried cleaning your workspace or importing your project into a new workspace to see if that helps?

Hi AartiG,

Thanks I did try cleaning the project (no help). I don't remember trying to import from the broken project to a new workspace. I did Import the original example code to a new workspace, then update all the project properties and source files I'd changed.

If the project is already corrupted somehow, it is unlikely that you will be able to "recover" it easily. My recommendation would be to import the original/known good version of the project into a new workspace and then modify it a bit at a time, so if this issue does happen again you can hopefully identify which change or setting triggered the problem.

Sorry about not having a better solution.
