You need to OPEN a project first ('Project -> Open'). There are some example projects in <CCS3 INSTALL DIR>\tutorial\sim55xx

If you get an error trying to open the project, try re-registering the project manager and build tool dlls

Note that for C55x, the bit you'd want to register is the bti5500.dll in: <CCSv3 INSTALL DIR>\C5500\cgtools\bin
