CCS/TMS320F2812: CCS9, DSP BIOS 5.42.10 compiler v18.12.3.LTS

Part Number: TMS320F2812

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I am trying to port code that was originally in CCS3.3.  I managed to to at least compiled and linked it in CCS5, but now I am trying to do the same in the latest, CCS9.1.0.00010.

I upgraded the DSP BIOS to version 5.42.2.10.  The project uses a .tcf file.  When I built it in CCS9, I get linker errors:

 "./xxx.cmd", line 197: error #10104: undefined symbol "PIE_INT9_4"

used in expression

The errors are several HWI_USER, and PIE_INT  that are in the cmd file created from the tcf file.

The tcf file is used successfully in CCS3.3 and CCS5.

Thank you

  • Hi Stefani,

Can you get an out of the box DSP/BIOS example to work with CCS 9.1?

Can you attach (please don't copy/paste) you .tcf file?

Thank you for replying Todd.  I don't have a project that uses DSP/BIOS besides this one.  I have one project that does not use any BIOS which work great in CCS9.1 (originally ported from CCS3.3 to CCS5, CCS7, CCS8, and then CCS9).

I tried "Insert File" to attach the tcf file, but I cannot post (Error)?  What is the best way of attaching the tcf file?

  • Hi Stefani,

You cannot use that compiler version. I just tried 6.4.12 and it built fine. You can download different compiler versions from here: http://software-dl.ti.com/codegen/non-esd/downloads/download.htm

We don't recommend just adding a .tcf file. If you are moving a old DSP/BIOS project, it should have had one already.

You should be able to use Project->New Project Wizard in CCS to create an out of the box DSP/BIOS example. Filter on the device you want, select it, name the project, select the compiler and then the DSP/BIOS example.

Thank you so much Todd!  It compiled and linked!

The tcf file was already there, from CCS3.3 but then I had to add a couple of lines when I ported it to CCS5.

Thank you for the example to make "out of the box" project as well.
