Problem in Building a project

Hello all,

I am new to CCStudio 3.3 and trying to make a project on tms320f28335 microcontroller. First step I had done is opened Code Composer Studio Setup and added F28xx Simulator tutorial. Then I changed the properties by right clicking on CPU under F28xx Simulator Tutorial in System Configuration Pane and selected sim28xx.gel. Then I Save & Quit and Started CCStudio. After that I follow the help -> tutorial for creating a simple new project. I created it like way but the problem occur when I tried to build the project, all options related to Build were unselected. No option was being selecting. Moreover the options to select Debug and Release was also blank in the Pop Down Menu. I had added rts2800.lib file and volume.cmd file to my project as mentioned in Tutorial. Is there any other file to add which I am not getting or something else I am missing to configure?

Iqbal,

I would recommend starting with the C2000 ControlSuite software. It contains a number of example projects that you can get started with.

There is also a much new version of CCS available, CCSv4.

Thanks John. But Later on I got the solution of the problem. Basically CCS was not installed correctly on my PC. I Uninstalled it then Reinstalled and it works fine. One more question... I had eZdsp Kit on which I had to work on. Can you Guide me through some initial steps that how could I start ? I had read the help tutorials but I am facing some complexity on understanding the RTE and Trace simulation.

If by RTE you mean real-time emulation there is some more information at the following link. It has a link to a presentation on using Real-time debug mode with CCSv3.3.

As far as Trace Simulation, the 28x simulators do not support trace.

Thanks John,

It started working now. But now I need to program the microcontroller without the help of any JTAG. Is there any other way to program the microcontroller without JTAG on my eZdsp Kit ?

Iqbal,

For programming without JTAG I would suggest posting a question in the C2000 forum. They can probably help you there.
