CCS/TMS320LF2406A: CodeComposer Version for Windows 7

Part Number: TMS320LF2406A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CODECOMPOSER

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Looking through the existing threads, I read that this processor is only supported by CodeComposer 3.3. This version is available for download, but does not successfully install on Windows 7. Are there any other options for making a software update for this processor that is not on a Windows XP machine?

  • Craig,

The version of CCSv3.3 that is available for download does not support F24x.  For F24x there is a different version that has a paid license.  http://www.ti.com/tool/CCSTUDIO3

It sounds like you need to do this to update an existing design.  Am I correct to assume that you had a CCS license in the past but can no longer find the installation disk?  If so let me know.

CCSv3 pre-dates windows 7 and thus does not officially support it.  However it is possible to install it on Windows 7. It has been a while since I have done it.  Running the installer as administrator is required.  I would also suggest running it in XP compatibility mode.  Assuming your Windows 7 installation is 64bit you are going to see some error messages when the installer attempts to install 32bit drivers.  Those can be ignored.  You will need to obtain a driver package from your debug probe vendor with 64bit drivers.

  • Thanks John... that definitely gets me going down the right path!

You are correct in that I am attempting to make a software update for an existing customer. We are in talks for a new design for their application, but in the mean time, they are asking for a small change to the software on the current product.

You are also correct in that we cannot find the installation disk, and therefore, are unable to even re-build the existing software. The software engineer that maintained this product is no longer at my company, and although we did preserve all of the source code, we no longer have the build environment (the correct version of CodeComposer Studio).

Would it be possible to look up and verify that we have a valid license to install this product?

    Regards,

    Craig

  • Craig,

I can help with the license.  I will send you a friend request via E2E and then we can exchange private messages to get that sorted out.

    John
