CCS/AWR1843BOOST: The relation between the CFAR threshold and rxGain in the profile configuration

Hi,

If I select rxGain as different value, should the CFAR threshold be adjusted according to the rxGain value？I.e.,the larger the rxGain is, the larger the threshold is?Is that right?

Hi,

Intuitively this is correct.

You would have to perform tests to understand how to adjust the CFAR threshold. There is no specific rule

Hi Cesar,

Thanks for your reply,I will try it. BTW,if I want to apply radar to Autonomous Emergency Braking, the detect range is beyond 100m, should I select larger RxGain value?But if I select larger RxGain, the signal and noise will be amplified.How should I select the value?

Hi Rata,

As Cesar mentioned you need to do the experiment to find tune this value and search for online literature for mapping for SNR to RxGain.

And for AWR1843, please refer MRR demo from TI-Rex which can detect an object more than 100m and it doesn't play much with RxGain to boost the signal.
