Importing the ccsv3.1 projects to ccs v4.2

Dear Sir/madam

Hi...

I had implemented some project related to the basics of digital signal processing topics using ccs v3.1 successfully. Now i am using ccs v4.2 in my laptop ,because it doesn't support the xp system. So while i am importing the projects in new ccs 4.2and building it , i am getting error like dsk6713.h ,csl.h ....not found provided i had already copied the files into the  project folder.  In some project in which BIOS is used , it is  showing the error too.

So basically after working on the older version of ccs v3.1 , is there is any additional then the previous one for the ccs 4.2? i mean additional files dependencies or something.

But i am successfully getting the  results for the simple projects like generating ramp, square , sine etc on the toos-->single time graph option on the emulator basis.

So, If any solution or guidance is there about this one , then please help me my dear friends.

With regards..

  • Hi Nitin,

Unlike CCS 3.x, CCS v4.x does not come with CSL so you will need to make sure you add the paths to it to the include and library search paths in your build options. dsk6713.h is a board specific file, something you probably downloaded from spectrum digital (or came with your DSK). Again you need to make sure it is in your search path.

  • thanks a lot ki-soo for the reply.

i will try once again on it as you have advised . But sir i have one query to ask, that is after having practiced with students projects and programs given in the book rulph chaissing (DSP Application  with dsk 6713...), shall i go through the TI manuals like CPU guide, Programmers guide , peripheral guide etc for  in depth knowledge which is required for higher level field application projects.

Currently i am practicing the programs & some project in ccsv4.2 on my own, because there is no one over the campus to guide me. So guide me a little, i will be thankful  to you.

    with regards

  • Hi Nitin,

The guides you mentioned are good starting points and the forums here are good for any follow up questions you have.

For C67x specific questions on the hardware and any advice on applications you are developing on it, I'd recommend posting in the C67x forum:

    http://e2e.ti.com/support/dsp/tms320c6000_high_performance_dsps/f/115.aspx

You can ask your CCS specific questions in this forum.

Since you are moving to CCSv4, definately check out the CCSv4 wiki page for documentation and tips. This Getting Started section is good place to start:

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Category:Code_Composer_Studio_v4#Getting_Started

    Hope this helps
