Hello,

Is it possible in Code Composer Studio to have some sort of counter that would count the number of assembly instructions actually traversed between two breakpoints in code? This would take into account branches taken/not taken, etc.

Hello,

The best we can offer with CCS is to count the number of cycles. There is nothing specific for counting all the actual assembly instructions executed when running between two points.

We can sample the PC at a specified interval using the ITM, which allows us to do things like statistical profiling. But that is not what you are looking for.

Hi Ki,

Thanks for your response. Is there any other way to measure MIPS or MCPS between two breakpoints? Say, if I had to isolate a particular algorithm and find out the CPU cycles consumed by that algorithm alone, would I have to manually count the number of assembly instructions between those two points in code, and find out the clock ticks between these two points using Clock_getTicks(), or count events?

Can you not use the profile clock that I mentioned in my previous post?
