"Resource Explorer Encountered a problem" accessing Resource Explorer from inside CCS

Part Number: MSP430FG4618
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430WARE

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I've been struggling trying to get the Resource explorer to open in CCS. I've tried every suggestion I have found in the forums a number of times, and have even gone as as far as a clean CCS (9.2.0.00013) installation, all to no avail.

To answer some of the normal questions;

  • I'm not running Malwarebytes or Webroot.
  • All firewalls have been turned off
  • Running Windows 10 build 18362
  • The only directories under /ti are ccs910 (should be removed), ccs920, tirex-product-tree and zips (empty)
  • Deleted the browser cache, and the tirex-local-server log
  • I've never had Resource Explorer running previously

I've attached the two logs you typically need. Well, I tried, but all the insert file seems to have done is loaded a couple of images below the text. When I tried to post it, it then complained that they weren't in the list of extensions (they are both .log's). Also tried simply dragging and dropping these, but the same result. Apologies, but haven't a clue what is needed to attach these!

I don't know how relevant this is, but just tried again prior to posting this, and following the "Loading... Starting TIREX" message, it did open the Resource Explorer for a period, but then failed with the "Resource Explorer encountered a Problem, etc" message. Somewhere in one of the forum notes, there was mention of a timeout. Could this simply be the slow internet access we typically have here (oh for fibre, but we are well out in the country!)?

  • The magic of posting a help request...

    The thing I was really after was MSP430Ware, so downloaded this standalone, and reopened CCS to get it to find and install this. This all went to plan. Restarting CCS, and the Resource Explorer came to life as well. Not sure exactly what changed here, but it all seems to be running now.
