CCS v4 floating license probleams.

My name is Marcelino Martinez. At the end of May I generated a licence to rum CCS in my computer. I have a floating licente for 100 users. I received the license file and the installation was OK

Now I would like to install the software in other computers. I have some doubts

-Do I need to generate a new license for each computer ?

-Does the compter have to be inside the university nertwork ?

I try to follow the same process I did with my laptop (MacBook with Paralles) but I obtain the following message: TI activation ID non valid, already in use.

Please, could anyone help me.?

You need to generate the license just once and place it in a server PC.

Yes. In order for the computers to use the license you will need to leave them connected to the server; however, if you remove temporarily a computer from the network the functionality will not be blocked. Check the question below:

I have installed the license server following the guidelines. Everything OK.

I have used the server with a laptop connected to Internet but not inside the University network and the server run perfect. The server license is a PC running Linux (Ubuntu)

Hi Rafael,

Please do not mark the thread as anwered, new problems have arisen.

After licensing my ccs v4 I have update to ccs v4.2.1.00004, but now the software is unlicensed again. I think the licence file I generated for ccs v4 should be changed to this new version but I do not know how to do it. But what would happen if I have computers with different versions of ccs ?

Do I have to unistall this version and install the previous one ?

Marcelino,

Due to compatibility issues with Vista and 7, CCSv4.2.x and newer place the file <licenselocation.txt> in the User area. Check section 6.2.1 of the License Server Administration page:

http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/License_Server_Administration_for_CCS

Please modify this file to point to the license server and restart CCS.

That is the only major thing I can think may be causing this, but please give it a shot and let me know the results, ok?

It was a problem with my virtual machine. I am using a floating license. After updating CCS everything run OK you do not have to change anything .
