How to Install Code Composer Studio v3.3 on Windows 7/ 64bits

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

Dear All,

I've bought new TMS320C2808 DSK and with that I've got free matlab trial CD and C6000 Code Composer Studio v3.1. The Problem is that, when I try to Install CCS 3.1 on Windows 7, it won't install properly, and the following dialog box appears on the screen when the installer try to start drpkiont service.

"Error 1920. Service 'drpkiont' (drpkiont) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."

and If I press Ignore Button, another dialog box appears on the screen when it try to start XDSFast1_ISA_Bus_Driver service.

"Error 1920. Service 'XDSFast1_ISA_Bus_Driver' (xdsfast1) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."

mind you, I'm installing this software with the Administrator Privileges.

In Another Post is suggested to bougth an upgraded version ofd studio composer,

But

What about installing in compatibility mode Windows XP service pack 3 or Windows Vista?

    See: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Vista_with_CCS#Q:_I_am_installing_CCS3.3_under_Vista_64._Even_with_administrator_privileges_and_UAC_turned_off_I_see_some_errors._Will_they_cause_any_issues.3F

    FYI: CCSv3 is not officially supported on WIndows 7. Some users have gotten it to work fine, others have run into various issues. We strongly recommend people in Windows 7 to move to CCSv4, which is supported on Windows 7.

    Thanks

  • Hello,

    I was trying to install CCS v3.3 on windows 7 and I've got the same trouble as described by user="zeus escudero":

    So after completing the installation I just copied the files below (from some windows xp working installation)  to the respective folders at Windows 7 CCS installation.

    => C:\CCStudio_v3.3\drivers\sdgo24xusb.dvr

    => C:\CCStudio_v3.3\drivers\sdgo28xusb.dvr

    => C:\CCStudio_v3.3\drivers\sdxds2000usb.exe

    => C:\CCStudio_v3.3\drivers\sdxds2000usb_v12.out

    => All the files from de the folder CCStudio_v3.3\drivers\TargetDB\connections\

    => All the files from de the folder CCStudio_v3.3\drivers\TargetDB\drivers\

     The result of this try:  CCS v3.3 @ windows 7 (64 bits) WORKED FINE

  • Thank you for your answer.

    Computers with XP and a functional instalation of CCStudio_v3.3 that I could explore, don´t have such files, so I couldn´t copy them.

    Can you or somebody share that files?

    => C:\CCStudio_v3.3\drivers\sdgo24xusb.dvr

    => C:\CCStudio_v3.3\drivers\sdgo28xusb.dvr

    => C:\CCStudio_v3.3\drivers\sdxds2000usb.exe

    => C:\CCStudio_v3.3\drivers\sdxds2000usb_v12.out

    Thank you in advanced.

    Sincerely,

    Zeus Escudero

  • Zeus,

    These files are Spectrum Digital emulation device drivers and are part of their JTAG emulator installer package located at:

    Hope this helps,

  • Dear Community:

    I found a way to install CCStudio 3.3 in windows 7 64 bits.

    First, I installed CCStudio 4.2.

    Second, I desinstalled CCStudio 4.2, but, for some reason, a configuration remains that allows the other installation

    Third, I Installed CCStudio 3.3 (Installation reported some errors, but I can compile and download to the board)

    Finally, Run software as administrator

    I can use the software normally.

    Regards,

    Zeus Escudero

  • Have somebody else verified installation of CCS v3.3 in this way?

  • Zeus,

    I am using CCS3.3 on win 7 x64, I tried the method came up by Diego, but it does not work for my laptop. However, I uninstalled CCS 3.3 and installed it again and ignore all the warning and errors, than set the compatibility of CCS 3.3 and CCS 3.3 set up to win xp service pack 3, it turns out works fine for now.

    He, Siyu

  • Just to let you guys know, I managed to get CCS 3.3 working under Windows 8.1 64 bit.  I got quite some errors while installing the software, but I ignored them. I also had to manually search for the drivers for my board. I also changed the compatibility to XP SP3. After that CCS 5.5 3.3 worked for me. I am now able to program my XDS100 -> F28335 board under Win 8.1.

    edit: massive typo

  • Bram - thanks for sharing. CCSv3.3 continues to live on!

  • Hi Bram,

    It's so exciting to see somebody's looking through information on the same ancient topic at the same time! I guess in the last sentence you were trying to say CCS V3.3 right?

    I got the same error for windows 8.1 64bit.

    Bests,

    Hezi

  • Hi Bram,

    Please, could you give some gidelines and where to find the drivers for XDS100_v1 connection and F28835 MCU?

    Regards

  • I used the drivers that were included on the CCS 3.3 cd-rom, which in my case were also placed in the CCS install path. My xds100 was not recognised correctly at first, so I manually installed the drivers. I just chose the ccs install directory to search for drivers which worked for me. I do not know where to find these files online. Maybe google or the TI wiki can be of help?
